CONSERVATION
Trust grants fund Gunnison Valley preservation
The Colorado Conservation Trust is awarding $350,000 in grants for protecting ranchlands and wildlife habitat in the Gunnison Valley.
Surrounded by the Gunnison National Forest, the privately owned mountain valleys in Gunnison County provide the land necessary to sustain agriculture, provide crucial wildlife habitat, and scenic values, according to a release.
Conservation trust officials said the grants will enhance the partnership between citizens, local governments, and non-profit organizations in the area.
The Colorado Conservation Trust was created a year and half ago to help protect the state's landscapes.
