World of wonder
Pasque Flower Photo courtesy Bill May

The beautiful early-blooming Pasque Flower (Easter Flower, Pulsatilla ludoviciana, formerly Anemone patens) changes dramatically in appearance as it matures. In the forests near Boulder, the plant is now displaying its prominent feathery styles and looks like a shaggy head of hair blowing in the wind. Closer to treeline, the plant is yet to open its lavender flowers. June 2, 2002
